Come hear a review of a Monolian Winter's Tale as we continue to embark on a journey of Peace Corps writers. We will be trying out the Asian Grill in the Downtown Oakland for some Mongolian food.
If you were a volunteer in Mongolia, come share your stories. If you wanted to be a PCV in Mongolia, come hear what it was about. Or just come to socialize with fellow RPCVs.
The following is a restaurant review by our own Meg Carter who went to check out the place for us:
They have happy hour starting at 6pm. The restaurant is unassuming, casual & inexpensive. I think the happy hour is a nice connection with the book (there might be some alcohol involved in the story of this PCV in Mongolia-JB).
Their menu is a combination of Japanese & Mongolian. I had hand made noodles with vegetables & beef. It was very unusual, different from either Chinese or Japanese noodle dishes. I liked it, although I'm not a big fan of beef.
I think at least one of the chefs is a woman. They're all young & friendly. Seeing them was like looking at the photos in the book.
The location is on 14th, at the corner of Webster, so 2 blocks down from the City Center BART station. I think it would be great to go there, especially since it seems to be the only truly Mongolian restaurant in the SF/Oakland/Berkeley area.
