4th of July Parade

7/4/11 Mon (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

, Sonoma
Contact:Anne Shapiro (azshap@comcast.net)

To celebrate Peace Corp's 50th anniversary, RPCVs will once again participate in the old fashioned home town 4th of July parade in Sonoma Ca. Come in your country's garb, bring your flags and signs with your country name and dates of service. We gather between 9:00-9:30 in the Veteran's Hall parking lot, one block north behind the Sonoma Plaza. Look for a pick up truck decorated with PC banners. The parade starts at 10AM. The route is only 5 blocks long around the Plaza. There is room to ride on the truck if walking is a problem.

Look for parking on Broadway (Hwy 12) and side streets as you approach the Plaza, or at the Marketplace shopping center on 2nd St West and Napa St., a block west of the Plaza. There is no parking on the Plaza during the event.

Following the parade, we will gather in the Plaza for a picnic. Bring your own food or enjoy goodies from several food booths on the Plaza and surrounding restaurants. Barbeques are allowed but not provided and space is limited. This is a well attended community event. Bring a lawn chair for seating while you eat and enjoy the Home Town band concert and other music throughout the day. The Fireworks start at 9:30 PM for those who want to stay all day!
See you there!
