How Volunteering Can Lead to a Dream Job
NorCal PCA and the Commonwealth Club of CA are partnering in “How Volunteering Can Lead to a Dream Job” with two members of NorCal PCA. Wylie and Janet Greig were Peace Corps Volunteers in India 1966-68. Their careers were enhanced by their PC experience. Their children inherited their parents’ values of volunteering, which led to their dream jobs.
Five members of the Greig Family will explore the role “volunteering” can play in one’s career development, as their careers were influenced by their early commitment to volunteer work. They will share their stories and explore the benefits of stepping into areas completely new to them. Whether the volunteer experience was Peace Corps work overseas or “non-paid” internships locally, their life/work stories speak to the benefits of taking some time to explore new areas by volunteering. Their careers and their community involvement were launched in their early volunteering experiences.
