During Socorra Camposanto service she recorded a CD to help raise money for The Center for the Protection of Girls in Fez. The project was sponsored by the American Language Center and their Community Outreach Program.
This shelter provides a safe place for girls 8-18 who have come from abusive situations and/or have been abandoned by their families. It is our hope that a percentage of the proceeds made from CD sales will go towards providing much need supplies and teaching materials for these girls. The shelter aims to not only teach the girls trade skills, such as sewing, jewelry making and baking, but also improve upon their language skills in Arabic, French and English.
Even though Socorra has returned home she's continues to help the community that hosted her in Morocco.
All are welcome to come and enjoy the music, the company and the food, all the while supporting girls education and rights.
