Tanzanian Food/Music Fundraise
3/1/14 Sat (5:00 PM - 8:30 PM)
Resurrection Lutheran Church
397 Euclid Ave, Oakland
Contact:Michael Neumann (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Join us for a night of Tanzanian food and music, as well as a presentation about Tanzania by Michael Neumann (Tanzania 04-07, Physics and Mathematics Education).
Toward the end of his service, Michael got together with several other volunteers to brainstorm how they could continue supporting education in Tanzania after returning to the US. The group founded TETEA (Tanzanian Empowerment Through Edcuation Association)
in 2008 and since have supported over 40 students through their scholarship program, collaborated with a Tanzanian NGO to build and operate a community library, and created a resource website where students and teachers in Tanzania can access past national examinations, study guides, and other content.
There’s a suggested donation of $15
and an auction to support TETEA continuing work. Celebrate the end of National Peace Corps Week by supporting RPCVs who are continuing their service and learning about a country with one of the longest histories with Peace Corps.
