HESA (Health Education Student Association)
March 7, San Francisco State University
RPCVs Ella Harris and Fran Astro spoke to members of the Health Education Student Association at San Francisco State University on March 7. HESA is composed of students interested in promoting Health Education, a common assignment in many Peace Corps countries.

NorCal RPCV speakers were busy in March speaking to school and community groups in San Francisco, Berkeley and Richmond.

BECAS Fundraising Dinner

Ella Harris (Ecuador 07-09), founder of BECAS(http://www.becas-foundation.org/), organized the 4th annual BECAS Fundraising dinner featuring live Ecuadorian music by Alturas Americas, home cooked Ecuadorian food and a presentation about her continuing commitment to her host community in the Barrio Santa Maria, Quito, Ecuador. BECAS raised $3,200.


Peru Dinner Talk

Madeline Wu (Peru 09-11) the NorCal South Bay Director hosted a country dinner presentation at Puro Peru in Sunnyvale. Over 25 RPCVs, friends and family came to listen to Madeline’s journey from bond trader to a small business advisor in the Andes of rural Peru.

Corrine Kirkbride (Vanuatu 01-03, Macedonia 01) the North Bay Director organized a group of seven RPCVs to sort donated cloths, toys, games and other items to make care packages for foster children during their transition to new families.
