NorCal PCA is collaborating with Oakland Public Education Fund to visit elementary school classes (TK-5th grade) to read books to celebrate Black History Month. We encourage folks who identify as African-American to sign up, but community members of all identities are welcome to participate in this event.
NorCal PCA volunteers will read books (provided by the Ed Fund) to students in 2-3 elementary school classes at Peralta Elementary in Oakland. As a guest reader, you’ll also have a chance to ask students questions about the book read and share about yourself (your connection to Black History Month, your connection to Oakland, and why you’re excited to be there!).
Please register with NorCalPCA’s RSVP link below by 1/31/2025. Oakland Ed Fund has set a limit of 8 participants for our group, and I will send an email to the first 8 registrants with further details and Oakland Ed Fund’s registration form as prior clearance is required for all new volunteers. I will create a “standby list” if registrations exceed 8, and will communicate details as needed.
